Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry is one of the premier departments of the School and is supported with the FIST of DST and the SAP-II grants of UGC, Govt. of India. The CoE in Unani Medicine, Bioactive Natural Products Laboratory (BNPL) is a well-equipped state of the art laboratory, promoting research on Metabolomics, Quality Control, Monograph Development, Hyphenated Chromatography, TLC Bioautography, Pharmacokinetics and Stability Studies of Herbal Drugs and Formulations. It has research collaborations with Industries (Hamdard, Dabur, Aimil, etc) and educational institutions in India and abroad (NCNPR, University of Missisipi, USA; University of Khartoum, Sudan; etc).
