COE IN UNANI MEDICINE, BIOACTIVE NATURAL PRODUCTS LABORATORY (BNPL)

The Centre of Excellence in Unani Medicine CoE (Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology) is a state-of- the-art research facility at the School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. CoE in Unani Medicine is funded by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and is dedicated for conducting advanced scientific investigations on Traditional Unani Medicine UnderAyurswasthyaYojana Scheme. The Centre maintains valuable research collaborations with renowned industries, including Hamdard, Dabur, Aimil, Universal Biotech Ltd., Transformative Learning Solutions Pvt Ltd, DolcasBotanosys Pvt Ltd, Tulip Lab Pvt. Ltd. India, Avitech Nutrition Pvt. India, AyuSwasthPvt. Ltd. Additionally, we have established collaborative partnerships with educational institutions both within India and abroad, including NCNPR at the University of Mississippi (USA) and the University of Khartoum (Sudan), as well as St Petersburg University, Russia, etc. CoE in Unani Medicine hosts over 25 research scholars, including postdoctoral fellows, Ph.D. candidates, and master's students. With ongoing projects worth more than 15 crores, it has successfully acquired modern sophisticated equipment through project grants. Additionally, a vast collection of over 500 costly reference standards and 350 preserved raw materials are invaluable to our research endeavors.

CoE offers a range of facilities, including: GC-MS with ECD and Head Space Online Library, SCFE (Supercritical Fluid Extractor), Flash Chromatography, HPTLC (High- Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography), ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry), Stability Chamber, Zebrafish Housing System, Fume Hoods, BSL-3 (Biosafety Level 3) Laboratory, Biosafety Cabinet, Laminar Flow Hood, Microscopy, Software Tools: Biorender, Mass Fragmenter, XL-Stat, GraphPad Prism. Conference Hall with Seating for 80 Attendees Equipped with Digital Audio/Visual Projector and high-definition Video Cameras for presentations and recordings and we have also on-site cafeteria to cater. These facilities significantly enhance our center's capacity for advanced research, analysis, and collaborative activities.

• Development of a world class accredited laboratory for strengthening of research on AYUSH (Unani) Medicine and Food supplements.
• Development of a Center for Training and Research on AYUSH drugs and food products for their quality control, preclinical evaluation and for certification.
• Development of a Center for excellence in quality analysis of AYUSH drugs for quality product development at par with the global consumer needs.
